Now we are only a month or so away from opening, we just wanted to update you all on the progress for that’s been achieved during the last couple of months.
The old lake has had a good tidy up and a lot of the trees trimmed back by Roy and his wife Jennifer, making fishing much easier from the pegs on that lake. There is a new fence near reception, and in the next couple of weeks the area outside reception will be gravelled for parking. The main entrance car park is to be gravelled this week for camping and visitor parking, there will be a passing place on the first bend in the road and we have gravelled most of the plots with about a dozen still to be completed hopefully before we open if the weather stays kind to us.
There are new kitchen units and sinks going in the washing up area as we speak – making that area a little more inviting to use. The shower blocks have been painted and will have new shower curtains and shower heads by the time we open. Our Reception has been painted and now has some seating in, and Jack has said that hopefully by April/May we are looking to get WiFi on the park.
The electrics are the one thing that aren’t going to plan at the moment. We are totally reliant on Northern Power to put a new junction box on the bend near the camping area, therefore allowing us to install the electric barrier at the entrance and update all the electric boxes on site. Northern Power have 12 – 16 weeks to come back with approval so this will be close to our opening date.
There has been a lot of planting of Laurels, trees, pansies and bulbs around the park with some wild flower areas still to be done so there be some lovely colourful areas to attract wildlife and butterflies during the summer months.
We finally have the ability to take card payments in the office. This has been a long wait but we are there now – so that will make life much easier at the end of February for us. We have two facebook pages if you haven’t been on them yet have a look and upload some pictures on them they are called , Brickyard Lakes Fisheries for the fishermen among you and Brickyard Lakes for the park itself.
I am sure there will be something I have missed such a lot has gone on during the last few months.
Just to finally say, Jack myself and Nige are looking forward to the new season with you all and hope to see you soon.
