5 questions to ask before booking a caravan holiday in North Yorkshire

There are so many different caravan sites in North Yorkshire…

… the question is, how do you know which one is the best choice for you and everyone who is joining you on your trip?

The trick is to work out exactly what it is you’re hoping for from your ideal plot – from your preferred location to the facilities you expect to find on site and so on – and contact your list of prospective sites to ask about these.

We’ve included five of the best questions you can ask below to help you get started…

5 questions to ask before booking a North Yorkshire caravan holiday:

1. When are you open throughout the year?

This is perhaps one of the most important things you need to establish. After all, there’s no sense in getting excited about staying at a caravan park if it’s going to be closed at the time of year you want to go!

How would we answer at Brickyard Lakes?

We’re only closed in January here at Brickyard Lakes, which means that you can visit at all other times throughout the year.

The summers here are of course beautiful, but they tend to get busy very quickly, so we’d recommend staying with us in the late spring or early autumn to make the most of the good weather and spectacular scenery.

2. What facilities do you have onsite?

Depending on the size and facilities available in your own caravan or lodge, it’s helpful to know whether your chosen pitch will effectively fill in any gaps, as well as provide you with the basics.

Most importantly, you need to know that your chosen holiday home will provide water and electricity; however, there are added extras that you may not have thought of, such as WiFi, a toilet and shower block, or even an onsite shop.

We have all the above-mentioned facilities here at Brickyard Lakes (and then some), so you can be sure that your time with us will be enjoyable and comfortable!

3. What is the general atmosphere around the park?

This is an important one as you’ll want to be sure that, wherever you stay, you’ll have a peaceful and happy time!

Be sure to ask about the location (is your caravan or lodge in a remote spot, or near to any busy roads?), the people who generally also stay there (is the site adult only, or are children also welcome?), and whether any work is being done there (e.g., maintenance or building).

Brickyard Lakes is a great example of a perfectly atmospheric park. We’re surrounded by beautiful North Yorkshire scenery, including our very own fishing lakes (more on that below) and an abundance of wildlife, and although we welcome children, our facilities are built to cater for adults.

So, if you’re looking for a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, our park is the place to be!

4. Will there be someone on site in case we need anything/there’s an emergency?

Chances are, your stay will go off without a hitch – but just in case something does go awry, it’s good to know that someone will be available to provide a helping hand.

How would we answer at Brickyard Lakes?

Here at Brickyard Lakes, our site wardens Fiona and Nigel are always on hand to provide assistance and support with whatever you need.

They’ve been at the site for a long time, too, so they’ll be able to offer you with great tips and advice during your stay, as well as pointers on what you can do nearby!

Which leads us on nicely to the final question…

5. What is there to do nearby?

At the end of the day, caravan sites in North Yorkshire are there to provide you with a pitstop between your holiday adventures – so, wherever you stay, it’s important to choose somewhere with lots to do within easy reach.
